Deeply Rooted Press is a mission-driven Afrikan publishing institution committed to cultivating, preserving, publishing, and advancing Afrikan systems of knowledge.
We understand publishing as stewardship. The books, scholarship, art, cultural memory, and other works that move through this site represent the intellectual and creative labor of authors, artists, researchers, communities, and other knowledge holders. We ask visitors to engage that work with the same respect with which it has been entrusted to us.
These Terms of Use & Sale govern your use of DeeplyRootedPress.org and purchases made directly through the Deeply Rooted Press website.
By accessing this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Deeply Rooted Press
Throughout these Terms, “Deeply Rooted Press,” “DRP,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Deeply Rooted Press, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company.
“You” and “your” refer to anyone who accesses the website, creates an account, places an order, or otherwise uses services offered through the site.
2. Using Our Website
You may use this website for lawful personal, educational, scholarly, and informational purposes.
You may not:
interfere with the security or operation of the website;
use the site for fraudulent or unlawful purposes;
falsely represent yourself or your relationship with DRP;
reproduce or commercially exploit protected site content without permission;
systematically scrape, harvest, or extract protected content from the site; or
use DRP publications or protected site content for commercial artificial-intelligence training, machine-learning datasets, automated text or data mining, or synthetic reproduction without authorization from the applicable rights holder.
Nothing in these Terms limits lawful quotation, criticism, scholarship, teaching, research, or other uses permitted under applicable law.
3. Intellectual Property & Stewardship
The intellectual and creative works represented on this site come from many sources.
Copyright and other rights in books, excerpts, artwork, photographs, translations, archival materials, recordings, and other works may belong to Deeply Rooted Press, our Publishing Partners, individual authors or artists, estates, institutions, communities, or other licensors, depending on the work and applicable agreements.
Deeply Rooted Press does not claim ownership of intellectual property simply because a work appears on this website or is published by the Press.
Unless otherwise indicated, the DRP name, logo, website design, original institutional materials, and content created directly by Deeply Rooted Press are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
Protected materials may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, modified, sold, licensed, or commercially exploited without permission from the appropriate rights holder.
Permissions
For permission to reproduce substantial quotations, photographs, artwork, tables, excerpts, or other protected materials from a DRP publication, email deeplyrootedpress@gmail.com with the subject line “Permissions Request.”
Where another Publishing Partner or rights holder controls the requested rights, we may direct the inquiry to that party.
Our approach to permissions is guided by intellectual ownership, attribution, cultural responsibility, and respect for the people and communities from whom knowledge emerges.
4. Orders & Payment
When placing an order through DeeplyRootedPress.org, you agree to provide accurate billing, payment, shipping, and contact information.
Prices are displayed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated.
Applicable taxes, shipping charges, and other costs will be displayed during checkout before payment is completed.
We may cancel or decline an order when reasonably necessary, including because of:
payment failure;
suspected fraud;
incorrect pricing or product information;
production or product unavailability; or
an inability to fulfill the order.
If DRP cancels an order after payment has been collected, the applicable amount will be refunded.
5. Print-on-Demand Fulfillment
Many books ordered directly from Deeply Rooted Press are printed specifically for your order.
DRP works with professional printing and fulfillment partners that may manufacture and ship publications directly to readers on our behalf.
Minor variations in paper, ink density, trimming, binding, or color may occur within normal commercial printing tolerances and do not necessarily constitute defects.
Where Deeply Rooted Press is identified as publisher of record, that relationship remains unchanged regardless of which production or fulfillment partner manufactures or ships the physical book.
6. Digital Publications
Unless otherwise stated, purchases of downloadable digital publications are final once the file has been delivered or made available for download.
Digital publications are provided for the purchaser’s personal use and may not be redistributed, publicly uploaded, resold, or commercially reproduced unless expressly permitted by the applicable license.
Nothing in this provision restricts lawful uses permitted under copyright law.
7. Preorders
Some DRP publications may be offered for preorder before publication.
Publication and shipping dates are estimates and may change as a book moves through editorial, production, printing, or distribution.
If DRP determines that a preordered publication will not be produced, payment collected for that publication will be refunded.
8. Institutional, Bookstore & Bulk Orders
Orders from bookstores, libraries, universities, schools, cultural institutions, distributors, conferences, and other organizations may be governed by separate pricing, discount, shipping, credit, distribution, or return terms.
Any separately negotiated institutional or trade terms take precedence over these consumer Terms where they differ.

9. Third-Party Services
DeeplyRootedPress.org may use third-party services for payment processing, printing, fulfillment, shipping, website infrastructure, analytics, and other functions.
We may also provide links to bookstores, libraries, institutions, authors, or other external websites.
Third-party websites and services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
10. Accuracy of Information
We work to accurately present publication descriptions, prices, contributors, availability, and other information.
Occasional typographical, metadata, technical, pricing, or other errors may occur. DRP reserves the right to correct those errors and update information when necessary.
Product images are representative. Screen displays and commercial printing processes may produce minor differences in the appearance of physical publications.
11. Submissions & Community Contributions
If the website permits comments, reviews, correspondence, or other user-contributed material, you remain responsible for what you submit.
Submitting a manuscript, proposal, message, or other material through a general website form does not create a publishing relationship with Deeply Rooted Press.
Publishing relationships are established only through appropriate communication and written agreement between DRP and the Publishing Partner.
12. Website Availability
We work to keep DeeplyRootedPress.org available and useful, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.
We may modify, maintain, suspend, or discontinue portions of the website when reasonably necessary.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Deeply Rooted Press will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising solely from use of, or inability to use, this website.
For claims arising directly from purchases made through this website, DRP’s aggregate liability will not exceed the amount paid for the order giving rise to the claim, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
14. Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control
DRP is not responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances reasonably beyond our control, including severe weather, natural disaster, carrier interruption, manufacturing disruption, labor disruption, governmental action, civil emergency, widespread network failure, or similar circumstances.
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate and resolve order issues when such circumstances occur.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Disputes arising from these Terms or use of this website will be subject to a court of competent jurisdiction in Georgia except where applicable law requires otherwise.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as our publishing practices, technologies, distribution systems, and services evolve.
The current version will be posted on this page with its most recent revision date.
